
Lisa Kretner
Lisa Kretner, is the founder of Tail Wagging Dogs. She is a Sacramento native, a bachelor graduate of CSU, Sacramento, and has been a Corporate Controller for over 40 years (Retired).
Lisa and her husband Mike have been involved in the Belgian breeds since the late 1990’s and have made a solid contribution to the advancement of the Belgian Tervuren through their kennel FlashFire's selective breeding program. They have produced many proven dogs who have multiple titles in AKC performance venues such as Agility, Herding, Tracking, Scent Work, Obedience, Rally, and Conformation, and NACSW Nose Work up through the Elite Level with several dogs having won “High in Trial” in one or more trials at multiple levels.
Lisa is a valued member of the Redwood Belgian Tervuren Club and American Belgian Tervuren Club and was awarded the 2020 AKC Outstanding Sportsmanship Award from ABTC. She also a member of Sierra Sniffing Canines and Haute Dawgs Agility Group, (past member) Two Rivers Agility Club of Sacramento. In many of these organizations, Lisa has been an Officer, a Board member, and has held numerous Committee/Dog Show-Trial positions.
Lisa is an accomplished trainer, a certified NACSW Nose Work Instructor (CNWI), a NACSW Trial CO & Judge, a NACSW CO & Judge for ORTs, and is an approved NACSW Trial Host. In addition, she is a licensed AKC Expert Scent Work Judge. Lisa has played a significant role in the success of her furry and two-legged students in both Agility and Nose Work and has a loyal following of students and a huge furry fan club. At the Tail Wagging Dogs facility, Lisa currently offers several Nose Work / Scent Work classes covering all levels of the sport.
Her training philosophy is based on highlighting the strengths of her students and their dogs as well as a “needs”-based individualized lesson planning. Her supportive and encouraging approach creates a fun learning environment. She often says, “It’s the little things we miss, that make the difference.”
It’s a “tail wagging” time for all.
